How does TCM view your immune system?

According to Chinese medicine, the immune system is closely related to the concept of "wei qi" (defensive qi), which is responsible for protecting the body from external pathogens and other harmful influences. In Chinese medicine theory, the immune system is seen as a complex network of organs, tissues, and cells that work together to defend the body against invasion by external pathogens and to maintain overall health and balance.

The immune system in Chinese medicine is also closely linked to the "zheng qi" (vital energy) of the body, which is seen as the overall energy that supports and nourishes the body's functions. When the immune system is functioning properly, the body is able to maintain a strong defense against external pathogens and other harmful influences. However, if the immune system becomes weakened or imbalanced, the body may become more susceptible to illness and disease.

Chinese medicine also emphasizes the importance of supporting the immune system through various practices, such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and lifestyle modifications. By maintaining a strong immune system and supporting the body's natural defenses, individuals can improve their overall health and well-being.
